Community Health Empowerment Ministry Expands
The CHE ministry (Community Health Empowerment) is expanding in the AGC Uganda, says Mrs. Jennipher Wasirimba, the church's coordinator for Community Health and Development
"We started our first CHE pilot project in 2009, with 22 trainees from 3 areas of the church," Jennipher says. "We met for a total of 20 days of training spread out over a year. The trainees came from Buvuma Island, Masese / Jinja, Kyunga, and Namayingo. I was very impressed with their commitment."
After the initial training, Jennipher spent the next year coaching and advising the 10 training teams that had formed on how to begin to implement a CHE ministry in their place.
Most of the teams did quite well, although a few ran into various challenges. But, with Jennipher's help, each training team is working toward establishing the ministry in their area.
Rev. Kefa Masiga, General Overseer of the church said, "The CHE ministry is one way in which we can train our church members to get involved in their community. The two-fold ministry of outreach combined with health training is appreciated. We're trying to follow the pattern of Jesus by proclaiming the Good News and doing good works as we go.
